Curriculum
As a student of biology, throughout the course you will grow your interest and enthusiasm for biological study and appreciate how science affects our every day lives. You will improve your skills with scientific methods, practical and problem solving skills in order to apply them to abstract concepts and contexts. In year 12 you will develop your knowledge and understanding of cells, biological molecules, genetics and exchange between organisms and their environment. In year 13 you will develop your knowledge and understanding of genetics and incorporate the concepts of energy transfer within organisms and systems and how organisms respond to change in their environment.

Entry Requirements
Students must achieve six GCSE grades or equivalent at 6,6,5,5,4,4 including two grade 6’s in Combined Science, or grade 6 in separate sciences (including Biology), Grade 5 in Maths and Grade 4 in English.
Assessment
The Exam Board is AQA.
External exams with a mixture of short and long answer questions including extended response, comprehension, critical analysis experimental data and an essay from a choice of two titles. Internally awarded practical endorsement.
Opportunities for work related activities
Animal Behaviour studies, residential field trips, and visits to wild places for ecology studies.
