Work Experience

Work Experience will be a key part of your Post 16 student experience, and an essential part of your course programme.

Students can complete their Work experience in a variety of ways:

  • A week of work experience (WEX Week) that takes place at the end of Year 12.
  • One day a week on a day when a student has no timetabled lessons.

The aim of Work Experience is for students to have an opportunity to immerse themselves in a work environment and to develop their employability skills.  Students are encouraged to seek their own placement in an industry/service/area in which they have a particular interest. The Post 16 support team will also help in the search if opportunities do not present themselves, to help secure a placement.

You will gain an insight into the world of work.  You may establish an understanding of an industry, make useful contacts or gain valuable experience about the workplace and being part of a team of colleagues.   You will certainly develop and grow as an individual.
