Curriculum
As a student of Business Studies A Level, you will take a look behind the scenes at what is involved in running a successful business in today’s global economy. We examine all aspects of the business world, developing a wide knowledge of the challenges faced in business and the strategies used by successful modern organisations. You will be trained to examine business situations critically, using a wide range of theories and models, from analysis of a business’ products to investment appraisal of future plans. You will learn to analyse the problem and identify the best strategy for the company to pursue. By the end of Year 12 business students have a good overview of the forces shaping modern business and how you, as a student of business, would respond to this.
In Year 13 you explore these issues in much greater detail, developing a more critical understanding of the factors affecting competitiveness and decision making in business. By the end of the course you will have gained a thorough grasp of the tools and techniques used by managers to aid decision making, but also a longer term strategic perspective to see the bigger picture and make more sophisticated judgements. This course gives you the skills and understanding to make a significant contribution to the success of any competitive organisation, whether in the private or public sector, with a thorough understanding of business processes and the insight to see how it all fits together!
