Academic Mentor Evening

Dear parents/carers,

Academic Mentor evening

As you will be aware, on Wednesday 29th we will hold our first Academic Mentor’s Evening of the year for year 12 and year 13.

Your son/daughter’s Academic Mentor is their main point of support for their academic progress with us. They meet once every week to review attendance and progress but also develop the non-academic skills and knowledge that provide your son/daughter with a well-rounded curriculum.

This evening will be the opportunity for you to meet their Academic Mentor and discuss their progress with them and ask any questions you may have.

Your son/daughter has been given an opportunity to make this booking. If they have not been able to do this and you would like to book in to meet the mentor, please contact us on 0117 9882525.

Ms Cooper will also be running a welcome session for all Year 12 parents in the Eye at 5:15 and an introduction to UCAS applications for Year 13 parents at 6:00. You do not need to book to attend these sessions.

You will have an opportunity to see our new Central facilities and have a hot drink and a chat with us about how you can become more involved with our Post 16 community.

When you arrive for the evening, please come and sign into the Eye. Parking will be available in the car park at the front of the school.

New facilities

We are delighted to have received our brand new picnic benches and tables. Along with our new building, P16 Central, this means that our students have a large choice of indoor and outdoor spaces to study, socialise and relax. The response from students’ so far has shown how pleased they are!

Transport

We are committed to supporting the environment in any way that we can and are delighted to have our very own bike sheds dedicated to Post 16 students. We encourage students where possible to walk or cycle to college (please remember a lock), as this is as good for them as it is for the environment!

Please remember that there is no student parking on site and that electric scooters are not permitted on site and should only be used on public roads if they are rented as part of government-backed trials: private electric scooters should therefore not be on site. We do not permit the charging of electrical transport on site. Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to make your son/daughter’s travel to and from school as environmentally friendly and as easy as possible.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 29th and if you do have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0117 9882525 or at [email protected].

Warm wishes,

The Post 16 team
