Careers Week

Tuesday 1st March 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

National Careers Week 7th – 11th March 2022

At CLF Post 16 supporting our students in choosing their next steps is hugely important to us. National Careers week 2022 is next week and we have a range of exciting opportunities for students to engage in both inside and outside their curriculum.

Subject links

Students will have the opportunity to have a live talk from a professional working in an area linked with their chosen subjects. We have a range of professionals ranging from adult nurses to structural engineers and Veterinary surgeons to the Police force. These professionals will be dropping into timetabled subject sessions throughout the week.
This will be an opportunity for students to learn more about these careers and the routes into them. It will also give students a real insight into the daily ‘life of’ each professional which will ensure students are getting real up to date knowledge of each career.

Friday 11th March

1 to 1 student interviews

On this day we ask students to come into Post 16 wearing professional business attire/smart clothes. This is because students will have a short practice interview with someone currently working in a professional role. Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills in the recruitment process and will receive live feedback from the professional. These interviews will take place throughout the morning and students will be given a 20 minute time slot to come out of their lesson to participate in the interview. Times will be sent to students and their subject teachers via email and so please encourage regular checking of student emails.

Careers Fair

After students have engaged with their interview in the morning, there will be a careers fair for students to attend during their Year 12 Academic Mentor time. Year 13 students who may not have timetabled lessons will be offered a time to attend via email. We have a range of providers available, so it is imperative students make the most of this opportunity and visit each stand. We will be asking students to prepare for this opportunity during this week’s academic mentoring sessions.

Additional specialist talks session 7 and 8

Timetabled subject lessons will not take place from 2.30pm until 4pm on Friday 11th March. This is to allow students to opt into specialist career presentations. Students will be required to book into these sessions. Details of the booking process will be sent via email to students. The day will finish at 3.30pm.
We are very much looking forward to providing these opportunities for our students during Careers Week. Please do get in contact if you have any questions about the opportunities available.

Kind regards
Jeanine Preece
