Leadership of Post 16

23 June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are writing to share an important update regarding the leadership of CLF Post 16.
As you may be aware, Kath Cooper has recently taken up the position of Senior Principal at Hanham Woods
Academy. This represents a change from the previous arrangement, where Kath combined her day-to-day
leadership at CLF Post 16 with executive oversight at Hanham Woods. Going forward, while Kath will
continue to hold an executive overview of CLF Post 16, the majority of her time will now be based at
Hanham Woods.

This has not been an easy decision for Kath. Over the past decade, her leadership has been instrumental in
driving CLF Post 16 forward, culminating in the provision being judged Outstanding in 2025. We are very
pleased that she will continue to support the Post 16 provision in her Senior Principal capacity, ensuring
that her extensive expertise and knowledge of Key Stage 5 remain closely connected to our work.
We are delighted to share that Alison Ashman, currently Senior Vice Principal, will step into the role
of Head of School with immediate effect. Alison is already well known within our community, having
worked at CLF Post 16 for the past two years and contributed more widely to Key Stage 5 provision across
the trust.

Alison brings a wealth of experience and expertise. She holds a Master’s in Education from the University
of Cambridge, a PGCE from Cambridge, and a degree in Geography from the University of Birmingham. Her
career has spanned sixth form colleges, international schools, and university teacher education, where she
has developed deep strengths in curriculum design, teaching and learning, and leadership development.
Her approach is rooted in inclusive excellence — ensuring that high expectations are matched with the
support every learner needs to succeed. This aligns closely with CLF Post 16’s commitment to being a
welcoming and ambitious community, where all students feel valued and are supported to thrive. Alison is
particularly passionate about developing confident, resilient young people who feel a strong sense of
belonging and are well prepared for their next steps.

CLF Post 16 continues to benefit from a strong and dedicated staff team, and we are confident that Alison
will lead the provision with clarity, care and ambition. We know you will join us in wishing her every
success as she begins this important role.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
