Post 16 Updates

Dear parents and carers,

We have been delighted to see our students back on site and working hard this week.
We have also been pleased that they have embraced government guidelines to wear a mask during lessons and communal areas. Thank you for your support with reminding them about the importance of bringing in masks every day.

Covid-19 Testing

On Wednesday the 5th, students were offered the opportunity to take a Covid test in line with government guidelines which required all students returning on site to be tested twice (once on site and once at home). We were delighted that a very high number of students were able to be tested. A small number of tests (3) were positive and these students were able to return home immediately to book a PCR test.
Students were given a box of home testing kits to enable them to continue testing at home. Students were requested to take their second test today (Friday).
Thank you for your support with this matter as it ensures that Post 16 remains a safe community for all.

Lanyards

We wrote to you before the Christmas break to inform you that, in line with our safeguarding policy, students must wear a lanyard at all times when on school premises. We would like to remind you that from next week, we will be enforcing this with even more vigour and students will be sent home if they forget their lanyard in order to collect it. We will inform you if we do need to send your young person home.

Exams

Most students taking Vocational courses will be sitting exams over the next 2 weeks and will have received personalised timetables and been told about the arrangements by their teachers.

If students are sitting exams, the following procedures need to be followed.

  • All students MUST wear their Identification badges to gain access into their exam
  • Covid Measures – Students will need to follow hand hygiene procedures on entry to the exam halls, face masks must be worn in line with guidance, and all equipment must be supplied by the students including a clear pencil case, a clear bottle of water (no label) and calculator if allowed.
  • Students need to arrive at least 15 minutes before the exams start, so by 8.45 am and 1.15 pm in the morning and afternoon.
  • Students will need to know their seat row and number (this has been sent out on a personalised timetable but can also be found on a noticeboard at the entrance to the Eye.
  • Students without access arrangements will need to meet outside the Sports Hall.
  • Students with access arrangements will need to go Mrs Crosbie’s room in the P16 Hub at JCA and will then be escorted to their rooms by a P16 SEND staff member.
  • Students who have been granted access to the Separate Venue should go to the Eye and remain downstairs until taken to the exam hall.

We have attached a copy of the exam timetable for your information.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or on 0117 9882525.

Warm wishes,
