Curriculum

As a student of Maths you will develop your knowledge, reasoning and analytical skills and the ability to solve problems through a variety of different lessons. To develop this in even greater detail, you might want to study Further Maths as a fourth A Level.

You will have success in all Maths lessons you attend and will have many lightbulb moments as you discover new ideas and understanding of those new ideas.

You will develop a greater understanding of the use of Maths in the wider world and will understand how this may relate to you in your future career.

Progression

Further Maths A level could lead to degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Computing, Engineering and prepares students for further employment in highly mathematical disciplines.

Actuary; accountant; aeronautical engineer; financial risk analyst; investment analyst; investment banker; meteorologist; operational researcher; research scientist; statistician; systems developer; teacher.

Entry Requirements

Students must achieve six GCSE grades or equivalent at 6,6,5,5,4,4 including Grade 7 or above Mathematics. You must also take A Level Maths.

Assessment

The Exam Board is EDEXCEL.
100% Examination, marked externally.

Opportunities for work related activities

Pure and applied university taster sessions. Engineering, Robotics and Statistics days. Operational research study including the chance to enter national competitions.
