Curriculum

This course was developed in to provide up to date, engaging training, suitable for students wanting to work in the fields of media, cinema and web based creative industries. Students gain the knowledge, and practical skills to develop media products right from conceptual ideas, all the way through the production cycle, from planning and pre-production right through to creating digital components, editing, postproduction and presentation of their digital products. Universities, employers and industry specialists advised on the topics to make sure students get the right combination of skills and understanding needed for the 21st Century.

Progression

Students will complete the Level 3  Cambridge Technical Certificate in Digital Media after the first year of study and in the second year  achieve the Extended Certificate equivalent to a single A Level. As part of the course students learn about the variety of  roles and responsibilities of media businesses to help decide on career paths open to them. Following this course students can progress on to University courses or into employment in the creative sector.

Entry Requirements

5 x GCSE level 4 or above including a 4 in English and Maths

Assessment

Three Centre assessed units with practical, project-based assessment opportunities, as well as three examined units on Media products and audiences, Pre-production and planning.
