Academic Mentoring Evening

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been wonderful to have our students back on site and to see the way that they have settled into our community and made progress already. Post 16 is navigating new ways to work in education during a pandemic, whilst keeping everyone safe.

Next week will see the first Academic Mentor and Welcome evening of the academic year.

Your child’s Academic Mentor is an important figure in their academic and pastoral journey, meeting with them weekly to provide them with a broad curriculum, information and wellbeing support. They also monitor their academic progress and liaise regularly with your child’s teachers.

On Wednesday 30th September from 3:30-7pm we will be offering you the opportunity to meet with your child’s Academic Mentor and discuss the last month of study as they have trialled new subjects and teachers make assessments of suitability to continue to follow their A level course choices. You will also be given access to a pre-recorded welcome video from myself to view at your leisure.

These consultations will last for 10 minutes and will give you a chance to discuss your child’s progress, ambitions and behaviour as well as to ask any questions that you might have.

We would recommend, given current Covid restrictions, that you book a Teams meeting with your child`s Academic Mentor so that you can see their face whilst talking to them.
However, we understand that this is not ideal for everyone and so we are also offering telephone consultations and, for those who cannot take up either of the other options, a face-to-face meeting can be facilitated. For face-to-face meetings, we would request that you remain 2 metres away from staff and other families at all times, that you wear a face mask and that you sanitise your hands on arrival.

To book, please follow instructions in the attached guide.
