Mock Exam Week

Dear Parent/Carer

I would like to firstly thank all parents & carers for their support of the Post 16 staff and students throughout this lockdown as we have focused on providing a quality remote education with effective feedback for all students. We will continue to update you as we receive guidance from the exam boards on final assessments and summer grades. We also look forward to receiving the results in March from the recent January exams.

In Term 4 (26th Feb – 5th March) we will be holding assessments across most courses, teachers will be preparing students with revision materials and guidance of what to expect during this week’s lessons. This is an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they can do with the skills and knowledge they have within their subjects. We will take this opportunity to provide further feedback to students on how to improve and their next steps to make progress.

Please find attached the timetable we will be following during the week. All assessments will be accessed from home remotely where possible: subjects will be setting an exam paper at 8:40 in the morning via Teams. Students will then work on this at home and will submit their completed paper the same day based on teacher instructions. You will also note the courses that will not hold an exam but will continue to assess coursework, lessons will run as normal for these courses. Please ensure students check with their teachers this week the plan for assessment.

Parents and students will have received individual communication from the exams team to establish the requirements for exams and to ensure we are fully supporting all students during this assessment window. If your son / daughter has approved exam access arrangements and they would benefit from having this support on site, complete this short form (with COVID 19 risk management measures in place) to register an on-site place.

There has not yet been any further guidance issued to schools and colleges regarding our return to being on site, we are predicting that we will be looking to return at some point from March 8th but will communicate further once we receive confirmation of this.

We will be holding a virtual Parents Evening on Wednesday 24th March when you will be able to `meet` with teachers and discuss the progress of your son/daughter as well as receiving a report of progress (AP3) before the Easter break.

Thank you for your continued support, please do contact the Academy directly if you have any queries or concerns 0117 988 2525 we have a small staff group on site who will be able to answers your queries. You can also contact us via email at [email protected]

Yours faithfully
