P16 Bursary

Dear parents and carers,

Please see below a copy of an email that was sent to your son/daughter’s school email address today.

Please find attached information about the bursary.

What is the bursary?

Discretionary bursary funding may be available to you if you require financial support during your period of study with CLF Post 16. The funding is solely to pay for educational resources and support specifically related to your course (such as travel, books, equipment, course trips etc)

Please note all claims need to be supported by attaching the original receipt or ticket/email confirmation, which shows the cost incurred.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

Please see the attached documents for further information but essentially you may be eligible if one of your parents or carers get the following:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Incapacity benefit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

For further details, please see the attached policy.

If you live more than a 20 minute walk away, you may be eligible a bus pass.

How much will be available?

We only have a limited amount of money so will share this out based on the priority groups listed in the attached policy. You will not receive a set amount of money: you will have to pay upfront and then submit your claim form with receipts. Your claim will be reviewed by a panel. If you would like to know how much you are likely to receive, please come and see me.

Free School Meals

Post 16 will be offering a service at both centres to collect a free school meal. You must apply for free school meals, even if you have had them in the past.

How do I apply?

Please read the attached form providing full details of the bursary, and free school meal, process.

Complete the attached form and email it, along with relevant evidence, to Aaliyah Zhané or email [email protected] no later than Monday 27th September 2021. You will be able to put in claims every term.

Please note: discretionary bursary is not a guaranteed payment. All applications are considered and approved by a panel. Payment of all awards will be dependent upon satisfactory attendance, behaviour and attitudes as specified in the student agreement. Whole or part payment may be withheld if standards in this regard are not met. Payments towards course costs will terminate in the event that the student is withdrawn from the course in question.

Many thanks,
The Post 16 Team
