Post 16 Updates

Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another fantastic week at Post 16 and a lot of congratulations are in order.
Well done to all our students who received their GCSE results this week: many managed to pass their Maths and English and those that didn’t quite manage a pass this time showed fantastic progress. We know that as parents you have supported, encouraged, and motivated your young people to achieve this fantastic success, so thank you.
Congratulations too to our students who have sat exams this week. They have worked and studied hard to prepare for these to do their very best.
We are also proud of all the students who have successfully applied for or secured their next steps. Well done on being successful with apprenticeships and university applications for a range of universities from Oxford and UCL to Aberystwyth, Birmingham and UWE, University of Bristol and the University of Gloucestershire.
Part of our Academic Mentoring for Year 12s this week was to explore the opportunities offered by the National Citizenship Service, which allows young people to experience everything from exhilarating outdoor activities during a residential to skills workshops and giving back to the local community through social action projects. Students can sign up for £50. A bursary is also available for young carers, those in or recently leaving care, students on Free School Meals and students with an EHCP that brings the cost to £10. Please see the attached letter for further information.
If students are eligible to Free School Meals they will receive a reminder communication this week. Please encourage students to claim their meal to ensure they receive a hot meal in their working day, it is their entitlement.
Please note that from Monday, Covid-19 rules will change slightly, meaning that anyone self-isolating with Covid-19 may be able to reduce their isolation period to five full days if they test negative on a lateral flow test on day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a temperature. This means that a student who tests negative in the mornings of day 5 and day 6 would be able to return on site on day 6.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0117 9882525 or at [email protected].
Warm wishes
