Curriculum
The AAQ (Alternative Academic Qualification) in Applied Science is a Level 3 qualification designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the sciences, preparing them for higher education or further training. It’s a practical, knowledge-based course that combines theoretical learning with hands-on laboratory experience. As a student of Applied Science, you will be able to explore a varied and diverse curriculum across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You will consider the science you are learning from the viewpoint of how important it is to the scientific industry.
It will develop knowledge, understanding and skills that will help prepare you for progression to undergraduate study and are relevant to the applied sciences sector. You might be interested in this qualification if you want to apply what you learn to practical, real-life contexts. The qualification will also help you develop independence and confidence in using skills that are relevant to the sector and that prepare you for progressing to university courses where independent study skills are needed. You will develop the following transferable skills that can be used in both higher education and other life and work situations.

Additional Entry Requirements:
Grade 4-4 in combined science or 2 4’s in separate science from sitting a higher paper. Maths and English to grade 4.
