Letter following incident in Local Community

13 February 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the sad news from last week, informing the public of a tragic event in which a 47-year-old man lost his life in Bristol. We are sure you will be as shocked and saddened as we are by the death of a member of our local community.

We fully appreciate that you may have significant concerns about the safety and wellbeing of your child, and this is something we do not underestimate.

As reported in the press, five people — including four teenage boys — have been charged in connection with the incident and have appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court. We understand that hearing news of this nature, particularly when young people are involved, can be deeply unsettling.

Please be assured that the safety and wellbeing of our students remains our highest priority. Senior leaders have reviewed our safeguarding procedures, and approaches to maintain reassurance and support to our Academy Community.

Our staff and wider pastoral team will be available to support any students who wish to talk or who may feel worried. If your child appears particularly affected, please do not hesitate to contact the school so that we can offer additional support.

We would also appreciate your support in reinforcing some personal safety measures:

  • Travelling directly to and from school, back to homes.
  • Remain in well-lit, populated areas.
  • Reporting any concerns to a trusted adult or to the Academy.
  • Making safe and responsible choices, including never carrying items that could be perceived to cause harm.
  • Using social media responsibly and avoiding the sharing of unverified information.

Open and calm conversations at home can be very helpful in reassuring young people and addressing any fears or misconceptions they may have.

This is a deeply sad time for our wider community. By working together — school, families and local partners — we can continue to ensure that our children feel safe, supported and secure.

Kind regards
