Wider Curriculum Information Letter
5 March 2026
Dear Parent/Carer
I am writing to inform you of key events that will be taking place during terms 4, 5 and 6 to give students the opportunity to develop key skills, knowledge and experiences that will help to equip them in the quest for securing positive aspirational destinations at the end of Year 13. All events are compulsory, and our Post 16 attendance policy will need to be followed if sickness is experienced on any of these days
Mock Interviews
On Tuesday 17th March we will be holding professional mock interviews for all Year 12 students and any Year 13 students who would like this opportunity again.
We will have over 25 professionals from industry coming in to give students the opportunity to practice their interview skills in a safe, supportive way. We ask all students taking part on this day, to come in wearing professional attire. The interviews will take place during the morning, and students will be bought to the Post 16 Eye by their Teacher. The interviews will last approximately 20 minutes.
Careers Fair
On Tuesday 24th March we will hold our annual careers fair. To date, we have 32 providers who have secured their place with us. Students will have the opportunity to visit this fair during the morning with their Class Teacher.
Year 12 Work Experience
Globally, the job market is becoming increasingly competitive, with employers expecting more from students with each passing year. One of the main areas universities, apprenticeship providers and employers want prospective employees to talk about is industry experience. Therefore, we strongly encourage all Year 12 students to complete a period of industry experience before the academic year is out.
Students will be working on this during Term 4 with their Academic Tutor. The deadline to secure a placement will be Friday 19th June. All students are encouraged to use the support and expertise of their Academic Tutor to help them in reaching this deadline. We are using the Unifrog platform to search and log all work experience. The attached process must be followed by all students once a placement has been confirmed.
If you have any concerns or would like to discuss any of these points further, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards
Jeanine Preece
