Year 12 Mocks letter
22 May 2026
Dear Parent/ Carer,
AP5 & Term 6 Mock exam arrangements starting Monday 22nd June
This week you will be receiving a copy of your son/daughter’s AP5 Report (Assessment Point 5). At this point in the year this is of course an important measure of progress and will inform discussions about progress into Year 13.
If you would like to come in to school to discuss this further, we have a Parents Evening on 10th June. Parents & Carers can book times to meet teachers via the ‘My Child At School’ (MCAS app). Please e-mail info@p16.clf.uk if you require assistance in booking appointments alternatively, you can call 0117 9882525 and ask to speak with a Head of House.
Over the next term we have an important series of Mock exams starting on 22nd June. These will be taken by most students coming to the end of the first year of their course. However, many students taking courses with modular exams (eg Vocational Qualifications) may have sat externally marked exams in May and early June and will not sit further internal mocks.
Please can we ask for your support in helping students understand the importance of preparing for these exams. If predicted grades on the report, are not where we would want them to be, the mock exams provide a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their commitment to improve and achieve a Pass grade in their courses. These exams and other recent assessments will inform decisions over their suitability to progress onto the second year of the course. For students applying for competitive Universities, these exams will also inform the Predicted Grades that go on their UCAS applications. As such, these are an important part of our Assessment Calendar, so please support your son/daughter to organise their class notes and revision materials they have from teachers and prepare a revision timetable to work on this between now and their last exam. Students will receive a timetable of exams at the start of next term but can make a start on revising over the half term break.
Lessons continue throughout Term 6 and outside of exam times students will need to attend all lessons as normal until the end of term – 17th July. The results of these exams and their final grades for the year will be emailed home to you as ‘Assessment Point 6’ in the week starting 6th July. Where these exams and internal assessments indicate a concern about progression to the second year of course, parents/carers will be contacted to discuss next steps.
Thank you for supporting us and them in preparing for the forthcoming exams and we look forward to making this a positive and successful experience that will help develop the confidence and help prepare them for the future.
Yours faithfully
Senior Principal of CLF Post 16
