Post 16 students take learning outdoors

A-level geographers and Year 13 applied science students from the Cabot Learning Federation’s Post 16 (CLF Post 16) recently took their learning outdoors with a field trip to Berrow Sands Nature Reserve to conduct sand dune field studies.

The trip provided students with the opportunity to put concepts they have been learning in the classroom into a real-world context.

Through practical fieldwork, students investigated the unique environment of the sand dunes while developing valuable skills in observation, data collection and analysis.

Throughout the hands-on activity, students demonstrated excellent teamwork, investigative skills and communication as they worked together to carry out their field studies.

A spokesperson for CLF Post 16 said: “Taking students into the field gives them a valuable opportunity to see their classroom learning come to life.

“Students worked exceptionally well together, showing curiosity, enthusiasm and strong investigative skills throughout the day.

“Experiences like this help students develop both their subject knowledge and the wider skills they will need for future study and employment.”
